PRECISION ROLLED STRIP & FOIL
Arnold manufactures precision rolled strip and foil products from a wide range of permanent and soft magnetic materials as well as non-magnetic alloys. These products are commonly found in magnetic shielding, security price tags, medical implants, aerospace applications and high temperature strip and tape wound core products.
Our technologically advanced, precision rolling mill has the expertise and capability to roll, anneal, and slit materials that require special handling, such as titanium, nickel, and constant expansion alloys, as well as a wide range of magnetic alloys.
MATERIALS
Examples of materials processed by the Rolling Mill include:
- Nickel Iron Alloys: Moly Permalloy, 4750-49 Ni, and Invar® 36-36 Ni
- Controlled Expansion Alloys: Ni Span® C and Kovar-029®
- Magnetic Alloys: Arnokrome®, Vanadium Permendur and Arnavar®
- Copper-Base Alloys: Beryllium Copper alloy 25, OFHC Copper, and Phosphor Bronze
- Titanium and Alloys: Titanium grades 1 through 4, 3A1-2.5V, and 15-3-3-3
- Nickel Base and High Temperature Alloys: Nickel 233 and 290; Inconel 600, 601, 617, 625, 718, and X750; Hastelloy® B-2, C276 and C-22; and Alloy 20
- Spring Alloys: Arnavar®, Arnoflex® 250, and Arnospring® 300
- Silicon Steel: Silectron and Arnon®
- Strain Gauge Alloys: Balco®, Manganin, Constantin, Karma, and Evanohm®
- Stainless Steels: AISI types 301, 302, and 304
This representative listing should be considered a starting point. As new materials are offered to the marketplace, they are evaluated for potential strip and foil applications.
SIZES
The Precision Rolling Mill has 4" mills capable of rolling to a minimum thickness of 0.000085" (0.002 mm). The 17 ½" wide strip mills roll to a minimum thickness of 0.0005" (0.013 mm).
SPECIAL PROCESSES
Some of the special treatments that can be performed are:
- Heat treatment: Intermediate and final heat treatment in a full selection of protective atmospheres to produce specified mechanical or magnetic properties
- Surface Cleaning: Whether etching in acid, scrubbing with alkali cleaners or treatment with our proprietary cleaning solutions, the removal of surface contamination and oxidation from rolled strip and foil is carefully monitored and controlled
- Slitting: Widths as narrow as 0.035" (0.9 mm) at tolerances as close as +/- 0.0005" (0.013 mm) can be slit
- Special coatings: Arnold can supply special coatings to finished strip and foil, including protective plastics, insulators and lubricants
